Wedding Photography in Liverpool …
My wedding photography in Liverpool has taken me around the outskirts of the city many times. This time however I was slap bang in the middle of the city at the very cool Hope Street Hotel. The bride and groom were Hannah and James and we had met there a couple of months earlier to have a look around the hotel to familiarise myself with the surroundings.This included a few interesting locations just outside the hotel which I’ll come to later …
The bride’s preparation…
Back to the main event … Now February was the month of the storms and unfortunately this day was no different. Strong winds and heavy rain greeted my arrival. No problem as I’ve said in earlier blogs, us wedding photographers have some tricks up our sleeves;) And anyway I’m an eternal optimist so there could always be a break in the weather … Fingers crossed …
I arrived mid morning to photograph Hannah and the bridesmaids getting ready for the wedding ceremony. A very crowded room of hair and makeup being done greeted me. Wouldn’t have it any other way as the hustle and bustle of getting ready always makes for great shots.
James the groom was arriving a lot later and was due to got to the pub next to the hotel … obviously;) … Braving the weather, yes it was still bad, I ran over to photograph James and their two sons eagerly awaiting the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony …
With the wedding ceremony fast approaching my optimism started to pay off. I could see breaks in the cloud. So keeping fingers crossed it was off to photograph the ceremony. The wedding ceremony is a great opportunity for natural wedding photography to capture plenty of emotion. Laughter , tears (happy ones) and Hannah and James didn’t disappoint. Got some real crackers. With the ceremony over I dared to look out the window and thankfully no rain, and the wind had also died down.Result. So just in case it started again I took the bride and groom outside for some shots of them together. The locations outside were great for wedding photography with some references to the Beatles. We all know who they are right 😉 ? Especially like the ‘love is all you need’ graffiti wall. One of my favourite shots .
The wedding Breakfast …
The wedding breakfast speeches and first dance were next and my day was nearly done, but not quite. The Hope Street Hotel had such a fantastic view of Liverpool at night that I couldn’t resist the photo opportunity. Now I don’t normally bring a tripod to a wedding as I’m all for natural unposed images but this shot required a slow shutter speed to expose for the night light. Sorry nerdy photographer talk there ;). The hard part however was for Hannah and James who had to stay still for 10 Seconds ! Now that takes a true professional and I have to say they were. So well done to James and Hannah, as the shots on the balcony looked fantastic. I’ll take some of the accolades 😉
Really had a great time photographing their wedding, such a lovely couple and not forgetting the staff at the very cool Hope Street Hotel . Hopefully be back there very soon …
